| September 11 | Vinings Downhill 5k Run for the Kids Overlook III Building, Vinings, 8:00 am A screamer of a last mile and a net downhill of more than 300 feet make this race one of the fastest 5k's in Atlanta. The race begins at the Overlook III office park and finishes in the Chattahoochee River Park just off of Cobb Parkway at Paces Mill Rd. From there it is only a short walk to the Vinings Jubilee shopping center for games, food and drink, awards, and displays from sponsors and local vendors. | September 25 | Midtown Mile Road Race Colony Square, Midtown, 9:00 am Emory University Hospital Midtown (formerly Crawford Long Hospital) presents the inaugural road race of the Midtown Festival of the Arts. Saturday morning, September 25, 2010, runners will take off from Colony Square in a one-mile race down Peachtree Street—through the heart of the festival—to the Fox Theatre. The Midtown Mile Road Race features one wave for competitive runners and another for recreational runners, families, children, and walkers. The course is wheel-measured and closed to traffic. | September 26 | ATC Atlanta Ekiden Relay Piedmont Park, 8:00 am Gather your friends and battle for stride-supremacy at this fun and unique team relay event. Teams of 4-6 runners combine to complete just over 30 km (each leg is a little longer than a 5k). There are awards for best team name and best uniform (all family-friendly please) and lots of age and gender divisions.
